Medchart has reviewed our policy regarding changing date ranges on requests submitted through our portal.
Due to the frequency of users changing their requests' dates after they have received an invoice or have approved payment for an invoice, we have had to make the necessary decision to restrict the period during which requests can be amended.
We have noticed that when requests are amended after providers have issued an invoice, the providers are often confused regarding how to proceed with the request which results in processing delays, requests fulfilled "incorrectly," and higher invoices to reflect the increased date range.
Therefore, to streamline the request process for our clients and the providers we work with, a request's date range can only be edited before we receive the provider's invoice or estimate. We will no longer be able to accept changes after this point.
The exception to this rule is if an invoice is too high and the requesting clerk would like to shorten the date range to obtain a lower fee for fewer records.
