You may be receiving notification that drive encryption is turned off on your laptop or desktop. Below are the steps to turn on BitLocker.

 

  1. Save all your work before you begin the process.
  2. In the search field on Windows, type Control Panel and press the enter key on your keyboard.

  1. When Control Panel opens, change the ‘view by: - ‘ from Category to ‘Large Icon’ as below:

  1. Double-click BitLocker Drive Encryption:

  1. Click ‘Turn on BitLocker:

  1. Click next, with the ‘Encrypt used disk space only ...’ radio button checked:

  1. Select New encryption mode radio button and click next:

  1. Check the ‘Run Bitlocker system check’ box and click continue:

  1. Make sure you save all work and click on ‘restart now’ button.

Your computer will restart log back in to ensure that BitLocker is now turned on.
